2022 Most Impactful Coaches: Men’s NAIA

Aaron Jennings - Mount Mercy

Aaron Jennings has been a head coach for the Mount Mercy Mustangs for thirteen seasons, with seven as the women's head coach and six as the men’s. During his time on the women’s side, Jennings won 138 games and advanced to the national tournament quarterfinals in 2012. Since taking over on the men’s side he has won 104 games in six years, earning A.I.I coach of the year honors and taking the program to its first national tournament. 



Aaron Siebenth - Ottawa (KS)

Ottawa Head Coach Aaron Siebenth has spent the past 16 years with the Braves Men’s Basketball program. During his first nine years, Siebenth was an assistant coach but took over as the head coach in 2015. Siebenth has had an impressive run since taking over, winning 104 total games, earning KCAC Coach of the Year honors, and taking the program to the NAIA DII National tournament. 


Adam Hiatt - Montana Tech

For the past six seasons Adam Hiatt has been the head coach for the Montana Tech Men’s Basketball program. During this time Hiatt has won over 80 games and most notably beat Montana in 2019. Prior to Montana Tech, Hiatt won 151 games at Westminster College and attended multiple NAIA National Tournaments. He has produced nine All Americans, 21 All Conference, and 60 Academic All Conference athletes. 


Alfred Williams - Xavier University of Louisiana

Xavier University of Louisiana Men’s Basketball program head coach Alfred Williams is currently in his sixth season at Xavier and seventh overall as a head coach. Posting losing seasons in his one season at Harris-Stowe and first season with Xavier, Williams has since boasted 24 win, 18 win, and 27 win seasons. During the 2020 covid year, he managed to 7-2 despite many cancellations. This year Williams has won 19 games in total with two remaining regular season games left. 


Anthony Medina - St. Thomas (TX)

Head Coach Anthony Medina is in his sixth season at University of St. Thomas, as well as being an alumni. Over his first five seasons Medina holds 86 wins. In the 2019-2020 season he led the Celts to their best season in program history, going 24-2 and claiming the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title in the program’s first season as member institution of the conference and the NCAA’s Division III. Medina also led UST to the program’s first victory in a national tournament during the 2019-2020 season in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.


Anthony Monson - Kansas Wesleyan 

Kansas Wesleyan Head Coach Anthony Monson is in his sixth season as head coach for the Coyotes. Over his time at KWU Monson holds over 70 wins, and led the team to multiple wins in the KCAC tournament. Monson has led the Coyotes to multiple seasons of 15 conference wins, with the 2018-2019 being the first time the program had 15 conference wins since the 2006-2007 season. This year, in the 2021-2022 season, the Coyotes boast an overall record of 23 wins.


Ben Limback - Concordia (NE)

Coach Ben Limback is in his ninth season as Head Coach at Concordia. In the 2021-2022 season Limback led the Bulldogs to a historic season, leading them to a shared GPAC regular season title, which was the first in program history, as well as winning the conference tournament and advancing to the NAIA National Quarterfinals. The 15 conference game wins this season broke the program’s single season record. He has guided the Coyotes to continuously improving their record since 2013, getting 15 or more wins every season. Limback has over 200 career wins, and spent 9 years as the Head Coach at CU-Ann Arbor prior to joining the team at Concordia in 2013. At CU-Ann Arbor, Limback served as the winningest coach in the Cardinals’ history, with 115 victories. 


Bill Czech - Hope International

In his ninth season as Head Coach for Hope International, Bill Czech holds over 230 wins. Throughout his time in the program, Czech has led the Royals to 6 NAIA National Tournament Appearances, 3 GSAC regular season titles and one GSAC Tournament Championship. The Royals have had 8-straight winning seasons under Czech since the 2012-2013 season, and Czech has won GSAC Coach of the year twice. Prior to joining the Royals’ program, Czech spent 14 years as the Head Coach of the Fullerton Union High School Men’s Basketball team, leaving the program with 213 wins, the most in school history. 


Bill Dreikosen - Rocky Mountain

Bill Dreikosen has spent 21 years as the Head Coach for Rocky Mountain, and boasts over 330 career wins. Under Dreikosen, the Battlin’ Bears have advanced to the NAIA National Tournament seven times and won 4 Frontier Conference championships. Dreikosen won Frontier Conference Coach of the year in the 2013-2014 season. In the 2008-2009 season Dreikosen led the Bears to a 28-9 record, and they won the NAIA Division I National Championship, making them the first to do so in the history of the Frontier Conference. 


Bill Gavers - Hastings


Gavers led the team to winning records in four of his nine seasons and in three seasons of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play. His finest overall seasons were in 2013-14 when he led the team to a 21-10 overall record and 14-6 in the GPAC, good for fourth place in league, and in 2018-19 when his team was 20-11 overall and 10-8 in conference. Those teams received votes in the final NAIA Top 25 poll. His biggest postseason win came in 2020 when the eighth seeded Broncos upset GPAC Champion and nationally ranked #2 Morningside University 84-80 in the GPAC Quarterfinals. Over his nine seasons at Hastings College, his overall record was 133-139 and 74-102 in GPAC play. Gavers recently retired after nine seasons behind the bench as head coach, three as an assistant and two as a player.


Bill Robinson - Milligan

Bill Robinson is entering his thirteenth season as Head Coach for Milligan. Robinson has led the Buffs to finishing in the top half of the AAC nine times and to two national championship appearances. Robinson boasts over 190 career wins, and has created a winning tradition at Milligan. Prior to his time with the Buffs, Robinson spent 12 seasons at Montreat College, where in his last 10 years as coach he crafted a team that won an average of 18 games per season, had four 20-win seasons, won an AAC regular season championship, two AAC tournament championships and made two appearances at the national tournament.




Brennen Shingleton - Texas Wesleyan

After serving as an assistant coach and an associate head coach for 10 years, Brennen Shingleton is entering his tenth season as Head Coach for Texas Wesleyan. Shingleton boasts 170 wins at TWU, the second most in the program’s all-time win list. He won his 100th game during the team’s National Championship run in 2017, making him the fastest coach to reach the milestone in the history of the program. Shingleton was named Sooner Athletic Conference coach of the year twice after leading the Rams to three consecutive regular season conference championships, and he was named NAIA National Coach of the year in 2017 after TWU won their second national title. He has over 400 career wins total and has produced 61 All-Conference players and 23 All-American selections.


Brent Vernon - Campbellsville

Brent Vernon is entering his ninth season at Campbellsville, and his sixth as Head Coach of the Tigers. Vernon has led the Tigerst to multiple NAIA National Tournament appearances and holds over 80 wins. During the 2018-2019 season Vernon had a record season, holding a an overall win percentage of .688 and 7 Mid-South Conference wins, finishing the season 21-8 with 3 NAIA All-American players. Vernon is also Campbellsville’s Head Coach for women’s golf and is a talented coach and recruiter for both sports.


Brian McDermott - Southern Oregon

Brian McDermott is in his 26th season as Head Coach for Southern Oregon, and with over 400 wins has overseen the most successful era in program history. McDermott has led the Raiders’ to seven 20-win seasons since the 2012-2013 season. Since his arrival, McDermott coached the team to 18 postseason runs. Prior to his time at SOU, McDermott was the Head Coach of Dakota State for 10 years, where his 1990 team had the first winning record in 23 years. 


Brian Van Haaft-Dordt

Brian Van Haaft has been the Head Coach for Dordt since March 2018. All 3 of his seasons at Dordt so far have ended with over 15 overall wins, and he boasts over 400 wins in his coaching career. Prior to joining the team at Dordt, Van Haaft spent 21 years as the Head Coach Buena Vista University where he compiled six 20-win seasons in a row from 2000-05 and helped them claim nine regular season conference titles. His teams also won five straight Iowa Conference Tournaments. 


Chad LaCross - St. Francis (IN)


Chad Lance - Missouri Valley

Missouri Valley Head Coach Chad Lance is entering his seventeenth season with the Vikings. Lance has led the team to three different nationally ranked seasons, and has become the program’s all-time leader in career wins with over 140 wins. His 2014-2015 team advanced to the Buffalo Funds NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship for the first time in 54 years, advancing to the second round.  That team finished with a 22-11 record, the best under Lance, and the program's first Heart of America Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament championship.



Chris Briggs - Georgetown College

Chris Briggs is entering his 11th season as Head Coach of the Tigers. With two NAIA National Coach of the Year awards under his belt, Briggs has accumulated an impressive career at Georgetown. He has led the Tigers to two National Tournament Titles, six MSC regular conference titles, and six MSC tournament titles, as well as over 380 wins with Georgetown. He has coached 21 NAIA All-Americans and had nine over 20-win seasons with the Tigers. 


Chris Francis - Science and Arts of Oklahoma

USAO Head Coach Chris Francis is entering his seventh season as head coach for the Drovers. As head coach, Francis has led the Drovers to a 113-66 win-loss record, four NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship appearances, and the 2017 and 2021 SAC Tournament Championships.


Chris Wright - Talladega

Chris Wright is entering his fifth year as Head Coach for Talladega. In all four seasons Wright has been head coach, the Tornadoes have reached the NAIA National Tournament. In the 2021-2022 season, Wright led the team to a 32-6 overall record and to the NAIA National Championship. The Tornadoes were ranked in the NAIA Top 20 in Wright’s first season as head coach. Prior to Talladega, Wright was the head coach at Central Baptist, where he led the team to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance and their first national ranking in the history of the program. 


Craig Beaucamp - Victoria

Craig Beaucamp just finished his 18th season as Head Coach at Victoria. Under his guidance the Vikes made three straight U SPORTS Final 8 appearances from 2013-2015. During the 2019-2020 season the Vikes had their best season since 2014-2015, having 15 wins and winning their first playoff game at home. Beaucamp led the Vikes to the CIS Championship final for the 11th time in program history earning his first national medal during the 2005-2006 season. Beaucamp was also the Head Coach of the U16 Canadian National Team that finished second at the 2017 FIBA U16 Americas Championship.


Curt Bickley - Multnomah

The 2021-2022 season marks Curt Bickley’s 19th season as Head Coach for Multnomah. Bickley began in 2003, and during his time prior to joining the NAIA, MU won two NCCAA West Region Championships and played in 8 National Championship Tournaments. MU moved up to NAIA in 2014, and since then under Bickley’s tenure have set NAIA records that still stand in place, such as most 3-pointers made in one game and most 3-pointers made per game. Bickley has also led the Lions on 7 mission trips as a team to Taiwan and 2 to the Czech Republic. He boasts over 200 career wins. 






Danny Neville - Jamestown

For the past seven seasons, Danny Neville has been the Head Coach for Jamestown. In the 2019-2020 season, Neville reached his 100th win, making him the fastest coach to reach triple digit wins in program history. A year later in the 2019-2020 season, Neville led the Jimmies to their second ever Elite 8 appearance.  In his time at Jamestown Neville has compiled an impressive record of 124-64, and in their last 6 seasons the Jimmies have garnered a NSAA regular season Conference Championship, a GPAC Conference Tournament Championship, and Two National Tournament Bids resulting in a Sweet Sixteen and an Elite Eight. 


Darren Tighe- Mayville

Darren Tight is entering only his fifth season as Head Coach for Mayville, but in only 4 years has taken the Comets to new heights. In his first four seasons with Mayville the Comets have won three NSAA Tournament Titles, had three NAIA National Tournament Appearances, and one NSAA Regular Season Conference Championship. Tighe led the program to two back-to-back 20-win seasons in 18-19 and 19-20. In the shortened 20-21 season, Tighe helped the Comets claim the NSAA Regular Season Conference Championship for the first time since 2007. Prior to joining the team at Mayville, Tighe was the head coach for Ridgewater Junior College, where he led the team to setting the school record for most regular-season wins in school history.


Denis Schaefer - Grand View


Derrick Mitchell - Wiley

Derrick Mitchell joined the Wildcats program as Head Coach in July of 2020. Prior to starting at Wiley, Mitchell spent six years as the Head Coach for Voorhees College, where under his leadership they had two NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship appearances in 2018 and 2019 and American Independent Institution Titles in 2017 and 2019. Over six seasons he led Voorhees to 94 wins. 


Don Rekoske - Bryan (TN)

Don Rekoske is entering his 18th year as Heach Coach for Bryan. At Bryan Rekoske has amassed over 230 wins, and has over 400 career wins total. He has coached five NAIA All-Americans, 23 AAC All-Conference Team selections, 11 AAC All-Freshman Team members, eight AAC All-Defensive Team members, 32 AAC All-Academic Team members, two AAC Player of the Year winners, and four AAC Freshman of the Year winners. He has led the Lions to multiple postseason runs. Prior to Bryan, Rekoske spent eight years at Crown College where he amassed 140 wins and led his teams to six national tournament appearances.









Donnie Bostwick - Oklahoma Wesleyan

Oklahoma Wesleyan Head Coach Donnie Bostwick has been with the Eagles for eight years. His 83% winning percentage with the Eagles is one of the highest in college basketball, and he has over 200 wins with the program. In 2009 he led the Eagles to the NAIA DII National Championship and set a record with 39 consecutive wins. He left OKWU to go coach at Southwestern Assemblies of God University for six seasons, where he led the Lions to the NAIA National Tournament five times. He returned to OKWU in 2017, where he has led the Eagles to four straight NAIA National Tournament Sweet Sixteens and won the National Coach of the Year Honors three times.


Garret Jones - Montreat

Garret Jones is entering his seventh season as Head Coach for Montreat. Across his past six seasons he has amassed over 100 wins with the Cavaliers. Under his tenure, the Cavaliers qualified for the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament in consecutive years during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, and Montreat also finished as runner-up in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season and tournament during those same seasons. 


Gary Garner - Dakota State

Dakota State Head Coach Gary Garner has been the Head Coach for seven seasons. Garner completely transformed Dakota State’s program, and the Trojans have made four North Star Athletic Association postseason runs under his coaching. In the span of five years, Garner led the Trojans to four NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances and guidedthe Trojans to back-to-back North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) regular-season co-champions and the NSAA's automatic bid to the national tournament after winning the conference postseason tournament in 2015 and 2016.


Greg Tonagel - Indiana Wesleyan

For 17 seasons, Greg Tonagel has been the Head Coach of Indiana Wesleyan. He has over 230 wins with the Wildcats, and has led them to 3 NAIA Division II National Championships. In almost every season at IWU Tonagel has led the team to a deep postseason run. In his last 10 seasons with IWU, the Wildcats had 25 or more win seasons, and Tonagel has won three NAIA Division II National Coach of the Year honors. 


Jamon Copeland - Ave Maria

Jamon Copeland served as Head Coach for Ave Maria from 2009-2013, and the 2021-2022 season marks his second season back as Head Coach. In his time away from Ave Maria, Copeland joined the University of Texas at Tyler program as Head Coach, where he led the Patriots to the program’s first postseason victory, the second, third, and fourth-most wins in a season in school history, while also finishing with the most wins in a season for a first year head coach. During his first run with Ave Maria he led the Gyrenes to increasing their wins every season and the program was ranked in the NAIA Top 25 on multiple occasions. 




Jared Ronai - Mount Vernon Nazarene

Jared Ronai is entering his eighth season as Head Coach for Mount Vernon Nazarene. With the Cougars he has over 115 wins, and has led the program to five 18-win seasons. In his first season in 2014, Ronai led the Cougars to one of the biggest single season turnarounds in the country, and the team made the Crossroads League Tournament for the first time since entering the conference, where they then advanced to the semifinal game. Under Ronai, the program had one of the best seasons in program history during the 2018-2019 season, finishing 27-8 and advancing to the programs first ever Crossroads League Tournament Championship game. In 2019-20 Ronai led MVNU to its second straight 20-win season and had the Cougars ranked in the top 25 the majority of the season. 


Jason Beschta - John Brown

Jason Beschta is entering his ninth season as Head Coach for John Brown. In the 2019-2020 season, Beschta led the Golden Eagles to tying the program single-season record of 28 wins, as well as a national ranking of 9 prior to entering the NAIA National Championships. During the 2018-2019 season Beschta led the team to its  first 20-win season since 2013-14, and finished runners-up in both the Sooner Athletic regular season and tournament championships. Prior to John Brown, Beschta spent three years as the head coach for Oklahoma Weslyan, where he led the Eagles to increase their win total each season. In his third year at OKWU, he had a breakout season, and the program had a conference regular season co-championship and a conference tournament finalist finish.


Jason Kline - Park

Park Head Coach Jason Kline is entering his 17th season with the Pirates. Under Kline, the Pirates have made six appearances in the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship. Kline has led Park to eight different 20-win seasons, five of which ended in a trip to the national tournament, and he has been awarded multiple Coach of the Year honors. Prior to Park, Kline was the Head Coach for his alma mater Indiana Tech, where he had a record of 140-84 record and led the team to two NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship appearances. Kline has over 400 overall career wins, and during the 2019-20 season, he was named AMC Coach of the Year and led Park to a share of the AMC Regular Season Conference Championship.


Javier Herida - Indiana Northwest

Javier Herida is in his sixth season as Head Coach for Indiana Northwest. In just his first season, Herida led the Redhawks to a 21-11 record, which ties the school record for most wins in a single season, and he also guided them to their first postseason appearance since 2009. Prior to IU Northwest, Heridia was an assistant at Bishop Noll Institute, where he helped lead the Warriors to four conference championships, five conference tournament championships, and a 2011 state runner-up finish.


Jeff Britt - Bethel (TN)

Bethel Head Coach Jeff Britt is entering his 22nd year as Head Coach for Bethel and his 33rd year overall as a collegiate coach. Bethel has amassed almost 500 career wins, and over 11 20-win seasons. Britt led Bethel  to five consecutive winning seasons from 2001-06 and nine consecutive winning seasons from 2011-20. He currently ranks 10th for most wins among active NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches. He holds an impressive list of accolades for Bethel, including an East Region tournament championship, an NAIA Division II Sweet Sixteen appearance, a KIAC tournament championship runner-up finish, a 2015 NAIA Division I National Tournament appearance, a 2019 National Tournament appearance where his team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Before arriving at Bethel, Britt spent five years at Saint Catharine Junior College, where he was athletic director, assistant men's basketball coach and head women's basketball coach.


Jeff Drinkwine - Northwest (WA)


Jeff Rutter- Arizona Christian

Coach Rutter has been the Head Coach for Arizona Christian for a decade. In the 2020-2022 season, Rutter led the Firestorm to a GSAC Regular Season Championship for the first time in program history, and they qualified for the NAIA National Championships for the seventh time in the last nine seasons. Rutter also led the Firestorm to a 10-0 conference record that season. The 2018-2019 season marked the most successful season of program history under Rutter, where the team made it to the NAIA Quarterfinals. Prior to ACU, Rutter spent 10 years as an Assistant Coach at Azusa Pacific University where he was the main recruiter and fundraiser for those teams, and he has a 341-111 record (.754) during his 12 years as an assistant.


Jeff Sherman - Central Methodist

Jeff Sherman has spent 37 years as Head Coach for Central Methodist, making him the longest-tenured and winningest coach in the history of CMU. Sherman has amassed over 660 career wins and is currently ranked 7th as the winningest active NAIA Basketball Coach in the nation. Under Sherman CMU has garnered twelve 20-win seasons, one 30-win season, four conference titles, one divisional title, five NAIA National Tournament bids, three sweet 16 finishes and 14 seasons with top 25 national rankings, and is currently the ninth  All-Time Winningest NAIA Program in the country. In March of 2022 Sherman was named Director of Athletics for Central Methodist University 






Jeremy Lewis - Cumberland

After spending nine seasons as the Head Coach for the women’s program at Cumberland, Jeremy Lewis was named the Head Coach for the Men’s program in 2018. In his time with the men’s program, Lewis led the Phoenix to recording the most Mid-South Conference wins in program history. Across both the men’s and women’s programs, Lewis has been apart of 11 NAIA National Tournament appearances in school history, including all three for the men and five of the eight for the women. As the Head Coach for the women, Lewis had 150 wins and four trips over the final six years to the national tournament. In the 2012-2013 season he led the women’s program to its most successful season in program history with a record of 33-3.


Jim Blaine - Clarke

Jim Blaine is entering his eighth year as Head Coach for Clark. He transformed the team from a nonpostseason team during its first year in the Heart of America Conference in 2016-2017 to regular season and conference tournament runners up in 2019-20. Under Blaine, the Clarke Pride earned its first ever appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Blaine has coached 15 players who have received All-Conference recognition including three All-Americans. Prior to joining staff at Clarke, Blaine had 281 wins in 20 years as a head high school coach in Wisconsin.


Joe Griffin - Roosevelt

Roosevelt Head Coach Joe Griffin is entering his twelfth season with the Lakers. He led the team to its most successful stretch in program history from 2017-2019. In the 2017-2018 season, the Lakers had a record of 26-8, their best in recent history of the program, and earned the program’s first ever bid to the NAIA National Tournament. Prior to beginning his collegiate coaching career, Griffin spent two seasons as a graduate assistant for Michigan State under Head coach and Hall of Famer Tom Izzo.


John Henry - William Penn

John Henry is entering his 21st season as Head Coach for William Penn. Henry has amassed over 440 wins, and is ranked in the top 20 among active NAIA men's basketball coaches in both wins and winning percentage. Henry has led William Penn to nine teams to conference titles and 11 to NAIA Division I or II National Tournaments. Thirteen of his teams have reached the Conference Tournament Finals, and in 2013 the team won a school-record 34 games, highlighted by a 20-game winning streak. Under Henry, the team moved up to NAIA Division I and the Heart of America Athletic Conference in 2015-2016.  In their first year, William Penn claimed a share of the league title, won the tournament, and was ranked as high as #5 in the nation.




Jon Yeh - Truett McConnell

Jon Yeh is entering his 7th season for Truett McConnell. During the 2014-2015 season the Bears set a school record with 17 wins and recorded the program’s first winning season as a four-year NAIA institution. Under Yeh, the Bears also won the program’s first-ever conference tournament game during the 2015-2016 season. Yeh has led the team to setting school records for points scored in a single game, points allowed in a single game, and fewest turnovers in a season. 


Josh Andrews - Taylor 

The 2021-2022 marks Josh Andrews’ ninth season as Head Coach for Taylor. During the 2019-2020 season, Andrews led the Trojans to seven wins over teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25, and the program’s first showing in the CL Tournament Semifinals since 2012. Taylor coached the Trojans to back-to-back winning records in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, marking the program’s first consecutive winning seasons since the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 campaigns. During the 2016-2017 season Taylor advanced to the NAIA National Championship Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006. Andrews holds over 100 career wins. 


Josh Austin - Williams Baptist

Josh Austin is in his 10th year as Head Coach for Williams Baptist. He boasts over 200 career wins, and 136 wins with WBU. During the 2017- 2018 season Austin led the Eagles to the AMC Championship game for the first time in school history, and during the 2018-2019 season the Eagles beat two nationally ranked opponents. Prior to joining staff at Williams Baptist, Austin coached at Central Baptist College where he won 78 games and was elected into CBC's Hall of Fame as a player/coach in 2013.


Josh Gamblin - Mid America Christian

Josh Gamblin is entering his seventh year as Head Coach for Mid America Christian and is quickly establishing his legacy. He has a record of 129-56 with the Evanangels, and in his first season he coached the Evangels to their first-ever NAIA National Championship, becoming the youngest coach to win a national championship at a four-year institution. MACU made it back to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 2019, and during the 2019-2020 season the Evangels had a 30-win season under Gamblin. This squad garnered the schools first ever No. 1 seed in the NAIA Tournament as well as capturing the program's second ever Sooner Athletic Conference Championship.


Justin Parnell - Oregon Tech

Justin Parnell is entering his 11th season with Oregon Tech his sixth as Head Coach. During his first five seasons the Owls earned 4 National Tournament bids, won a Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship Title, played for 2 CCC Tournament Titles and finished as NAIA National Runner Up in 2019. In 2020, Parnell won his 100th game during the CCC Tournament semifinals. Before being named Head Coach for Oregon Tech, Parnell spent three years as an assistant coach and one as the associate head coach for the Hustlin' Owls. Parnell was also an Assistant Women’s coach at Clackamas Community College between his time at OT. 




Kelvin Starr - The Master’s

Kelvin Starr is entering his sixth season as Head Coach for TMU. In Starr’s first season, the Mustangs won 27 games and advanced to the second round of the NAIA national tournament. The Mustangs have been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA more than once during Kelvin Starr’s tenure and Starr has led the Mustangs to four consecutive NAIA national tournaments after not reaching the national tournament since 2000. After the 2017-2018 season, Kelvin Starr was awarded the NABC-NAIA Division 1 Coach of the Year after TMU finished the year 29-3, winning its second-straight GSAC Tournament and the first GSAC regular season championship in program history. Kelvin Starr has been honored as GSAC Coach of the Year three times (05-06, 17-18, 18-19). Prior to TMU, Starr was the Head Coach at Christian Heritage College (now San Diego Christian College) where he led the team to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national tournament crown (2004). 


Kevin Burton - Union 

Kevin Burton enters his 11th season as Head Coach of Union College (Ky.) This past season Burton led the Bulldogs to a 25-9 record and an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament Championship. Kevin Burton has led the Bulldogs to 9 straight AAC Tournament Championships and NAIA DII Tournaments including a National Championship in 2017 where the Bulldogs ended their season on a 33-game winning streak. Kevin Burton has compiled a record 247-78 (.837 winning percentage) while as Head Coach at Union. Prior to Union, Burton was the Head Coach for Lambuth (Tenn.) University where he led the Eagles to the “Sweet 16” in the NAIA DI National Tournament. 


Kevin Hanson - British Columbia


Kevin Hanson enters his 24th season with British Columbia. Kevin Hanson is one of the most decorated coaches in all of U SPORTS. Hanson currently has the most wins in the history of the Canada West Conference with 336. Hanson also has the highest active conference winning percentage (.776). Hanson has won the U SPORTS Coach of the Year twice (‘06,‘10) and the Canada West Coach of the Year six times (‘02,’05,’09,’10,’11,’17). Under Hanson’s tutelage, the Thunderbirds have won the Canada West Championship six times and have reached the U SPORTS Championship game twice as well. Kevin Hanson also was the Head Coach for Team Canada 3x in the World FISU Games in 2003, 2005, and 2011. 


Kevin Lubbers - Southeastern


Kevin Lubbers is entering his fourth year as Head Coach for Southeastern (SEU). In Lubbers first season, he led the Fire to their first Sun Conference regular season championship, and a conference tournament title. Lubbers is a 2x Sun Conference Coach of the Year award recipient. This past season, SEU went 22-8 and qualified for the NAIA DII National Tournament. The Fire were in the top 25 rankings for the majority of the season. In the 2019-2020 season, the Fire reached the NAIA DII National Championship game but were not able to play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fire have reached the NAIA Tourney four of the past five seasons. Prior to Southeaster, Lubbers was the Head Coach for Colorado Christian where he won two NCCAA National Championships. 


Kim Elders- Cornerstone


Kim Elders enters his 30th season as the Men’s Head Basketball Coach at Cornerstone University with a Cornerstone Head Coaching record of 732-270 (.731). Kim Elders and the Golden Eagles have won three NAIA DII National Championships (‘99, ‘11, ‘15). Under Elders’ tutelage, Cornerstone has won 11 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Regular Season Championships and ten WHAC Tournament Championships. In 2019, Kim Elders was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame. Elders is a three-time NAIA/NABC National Coach of the Year (‘99, ‘15, ‘17).


Klint Pleasant - Rochester


Klint Pleasant is entering his 12th season as the Men’s Head Basketball Coach at Rochester University. Klint Pleasant has shown consistent success as the Head Coach at RU, compiling a record of 245-97 (.716). In Pleasant’s first season (2011-2012) as Head Coach for RU, he led the Warriors to a 26-win season, and a runner-up finish at the USCAA National Tournament. The following season, the Warriors achieved a 30-win season, USCAA Championship, and a win over an NCAA DI team, Eastern Illinois University. The 2020-2021 season was a very successful season for Coach Pleasant and the Winged Warriors. They finished with a 13-4 record and won the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season title. Additionally, Pleasant won the WHAC Coach of the Year. Excluding the 2020-2021 shortened season, Pleasant has led the Winged Warriors to eight 20-win seasons in his 10 seasons at the helm. Prior to Rochester, Klint was the Head Coach for Abilene Christian for three seasons.


Kris Korver - Northwestern (IA)


Kris Korver is the winningest coach in Northwestern men’s basketball history and currently ranks tied seventh amongst all active NAIA coaches in career wins. Korver is entering his 23rd season at Northwestern (IA) with a career record of 502-201 (.714). Korver has taken the Red Raiders 16 trips to the NAIA DII national tournament. Korver started his career at Northwestern red hot, winning the NAIA DII Championship in his first and third seasons. Under Kris Korver, 28 players have earned All-American honors including NAIA Player of the Year - Brandon Woudstra (2003). Prior to his time at Northwestern, Korver was the Head Coach at Valley Christian High School in Cerritos, California. 


Kyle Blankenship - Louisiana State University - Shreveport


Kyle Blankenship is entering his 11th season with LSU-Shreveport (LSUS). In his 10 seasons as Head Coach, the Pilots have reached the NAIA National Tournament every year and have averaged 23 wins per season. Blankenship has compiled a 230-80 (.741) record. In Blankenship's first season as the LSUS Men’s Basketball Head Coach, he took the Pilots to unprecedented heights by reaching the NAIA D1 Fab Four for the first time in school history. The Pilots have won the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament for the past three consecutive years (2020-2022). Blankenship is a 6x recipient of the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (‘13, ‘14, ‘18, ‘20, ‘21, ‘22) and a 3x winner of the LABC Small College Coach of the Year (‘13,’20,’21).  Blankenship’s playing career began at the University of Tulsa, where he was a three-time letterman and team captain. 


Lance Von Vogt - William Jessup 


Entering his 10th season with William Jessup, Lance Von Vogt has positively transformed Jessup basketball into an up and coming achiever in NAIA Division 1 and the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC). Von Vogt has a head coaching record of 167-100 (.625), leading the Warriors to seven consecutive seasons with national recognition in the NAIA polls. Despite William Jessup Basketball transferring to NAIA Division 1 from Division 2 in 2013, the Warriors have had consistent presence in the NAIA Top 25 poll. The 2021-2022 season concluded as the most successful season in William Jessup basketball history as Von Vogt guided the Warriors to a 30 win season and an NAIA National Quarterfinal berth. Prior to Von Vogt’s career at William Jessup, he was the head coach of Peninsula College of Port Angeles, Washington. 


Larry Cardaro - Louisian State University Alexandria


In Larry Cardaro’s eight seasons as LSU-Alexandria Head Coach, he has amassed a 206-39 (.840) record and at least a share of five Red River Athletic Conference regular season titles. In all eight seasons, Cardaro has guided the General to the NAIA National Tournament including a couple “Fab Four” appearances and a Championship Game appearance in 2018. Cardaro was a recipient of the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ NAIA Coach of the Year in 2017 for a 31-0 regular season record. Cardoro has established the Generals as an elite home court team defending the fort with a 95-8 record. Prior to his success at LSU-Alexandria, Cardaro has spent time coaching at the NCAA Division 1 level (LSU & UT Arlington).


Mark Berokoff - Oklahoma City University


Mark Berokoff assumed the Head Coach position at Oklahoma City University in 2021 after leading Randall University to three NCCAA DII National Championships. Berokoff was awarded NCCAA Coach of the Year twice (2016 and 2019). Prior to Randall, Berokoff was an assistant at Louisiana Tech, Texas State and Hill College. Mark Berokoff and his staff achieved a 15 win turn-around this past season. At the high school level, Berokoff has a career record of 225-77, including a California Interscholastic Federation Championship.


Mark Hester - Indiana East


Mark Hester is entering his 15th season as Head Coach for Indiana East Basketball with a composition of a 303-160 (.654) record. Excluding the shortened 2020-2021 season, 10 of Hester’s 13 seasons as Head Coach, the Red Wolves have won 20+ games per season. In Hester’s second season as Head Coach, he led the Red Wolves to a 14 win turnaround and finished runner up in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) tournament and received votes in the NAIA Top 25 coaches poll for the first time in program history. The 2017-2018 season was a banner year for Mark Hester and the Red Wolves. The Red Wolves led the NAIA with 34 victories and reached the Round of 4 at the NAIA D2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament. IU finished the 2017-2018 season ranked 1st in the NAIA D2 Coaches Poll. Prior to Indiana East, Hester spent time as an Assistant Coach for Bethel College in Mckenzie, Tennessee making the NAIA D2 National Tournament “Sweet 16” in 2002. 


Matt O’Brien - Southwestern (KS)


Matt O’Brien is entering his 14th season as Head Coach for the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. In 2018, O’Brien became the winningest coach in Southwestern history while additionally being named the Coach of the Year in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). O’Brien and the Moundbuilders have had 12 straight winning seasons and seven 20 win seasons. O’Brien is 15 wins shy of 300 wins, which puts him amongst the most active winning coaches in the NAIA. Prior to his tutelage at Southwestern, O’Brien was the Head Coach at Central Christian College. The Moundbuilders 2017-2018 KCAC Championship was their first Conference Championship since the ‘05-’06 season. O’Brien and the Moundbuilders have reached the NAIA D2 Tournament two of the last three years. 


Matt Wilber - Dakota Wesleyan


Matt Wilber is entering his 10th season at Dakota Wesleyan with a 178-86 (.674) record. Despite losing a senior core after a stellar 23-10 and an NAIA DII Tournament appearance, Wilber and the Tigers managed to accomplish a 23-10 record and a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championship game berth. The Tigers' best season in school history came in the 2014-2015 season finishing 32-5, winning the regular-season GPAC championship and making it all the way to the NAIA National Tournament Game. Wilber has coached over 26 All-GPAC Team members and 13 All-American selections.


Micah Ratzlaff - Tabor College (formerly) 


Micah Ratzlaff compiled an overall record of 228-216 and a conference mark of 163-134 over 15 years leading the Bluejays. Ratzlaff guided the Bluejays to 4 NAIA Men’s National Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight appearance. Prior to Tabor, Ratzlaff served as an assistant at Union College (Ky.) and East Carolina Central (Okla.). Ratzlaff was hired as head coach in 2007.


Matt McBride - Holy Cross College


Matt Mcbride is returning for his 10th season as the winningest head coach for Holy Cross College Basketball history. The 2020 NABC NAIA Coach of the Year is the first Holy Cross College recipient to receive the prestigious award. The Saints have reached the NAIA D2 National Tournament twice in the last three years. McBride led the Saints to a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season Co-Championship in the 2019-2020 season. Under McBride, the Saints have averaged 18 wins per season, a 11 game increase than their season average before the McBride era. Prior to Holy Cross, McBride was an Associate Head Coach at Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. In his time at Tusculum, the team earned its first national ranking and at-large berth in the NCAA D2 National Tournament.


Mike Raimbault - Winnipeg 


In Mike Raimbault’s 12 seasons as the Winnipeg Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Raimbault has accomplished a 187-163 overall record. Prior to Winnipeg, Raimbault led the University of British Columbia to the then- CCAA school to a Canadian college national championship. He was named B.C. colleges coach of the year and national coach of the year in 2009. Mike Raimbault was a player at Brandon University. 


Noel Emenhiser - Madonna


The former Madonna player standout, has been equally accomplished as a Head Coach for the Crusaders through 13 seasons. Emenhiser has compiled a 214-169 (.559) record, two Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament titles (‘13, ‘20), and three NAIA National Tournament appearances (‘13, ‘19, ‘20). The 2012-2013 season proved to be the most wins in Crusader history with 25 wins. Emenhiser was awarded the WHAC Coach of the Year in 2019. 


Oliver Drake - (formerly) Midland


Oliver Drake has compiled an 85-88 overall record and a 47-69 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). In 2016-17, Drake guided the Warriors to a second-place finish in the GPAC regular season standings and earned an at-large bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II National Championship Tournament, the fifth appearance in program history. Prior to coming to Midland, Drake served as the head basketball coach at Ashford University (Iowa) for five seasons (2010-15). While at Ashford, Drake guided the Saints to a 108-55 overall record as they won one Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) title and made three appearances in the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament. In 2018, Drake was selected to be a coach on the U18 USA National Team for training camp in Colorado Springs.


Patrick Crarey II  - St. Thomas University (STU)


Patrick Crarey II was named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach of St. Thomas University in Spring of 2021. Crarey came to STU after a decade long success as the Men's Basketball coach at Washington Adventist University (MD.) while also serving as the Athletic Director at WAU. During his tenure at Washington Adventist, Crarey was recognized as the conference coach of the year twice (2014, 2020), and set the program record for wins in a single season (23 in 2020). In 2014, Crarey guided the Shock to the USCAA National Championship and also won the Association of Independent Institutions Conference Championship in 2017. Crarey’s has led four teams to 20+ win seasons, including three of the last four campaigns. Crarey took Washington Adventist to four NAIA National Tournament Appearances (2016, 2017, 2019, 2020).   



Phillip Stitt - Langston

Phillip Stitt was announced as the new Langston University head men's basketball coach on June 17, 2019. Stitt most recently coached at Marion Military Institute (MMI) in Marian, Ala. where he led MMI to a 77-33 record over the past four seasons. During that time span, Stitt has coached two NJCAA All-Americans, two ACCC All-Region 22 performers and three NJCAA Academic All-Americans while consistently being ranked in the top 25 and clinching the ACCC/NJCAA Region 22 Championship in 2015-16. Stitt has also received coaching accolades during his time at MMI where he was named the NJCAA Region II Coach of the Year, the NJCAA District 12 Coach of the Year and Birmingham's Tip-off Club's Alabama Junior College Coach of the Year in 2015-16. Over the span of 28 seasons, Stitt holds a record of 100-68 at MMI and a career coaching record of 215-156.


Ray Shovlain - St. Ambrose


Ray Shovlain will be entering his 39th season with the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees. Shovlain has achieved 688 victories and 18 20-win seasons over his stellar career. The basketball program has earned 10 NAIA National Tournament appearances and four Sweet 16 finishes under Shovlain, including the school's first and only trip to the Final Four in 2004, when the team set a school record for most victories in a single season (32). This has been accomplished against an extremely competitive and challenging schedule that has included many contests against NCAA Division I and II competitors.


Rhett Soliday - Vanguard


Rhett Soliday is entering his 13th season as Head Coach for Vanguard University. In just his fourth year at the helm, Soliday led the Lions to the 2014 NAIA National Championship, in addition to winning the 2013-2014 Golden State Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. For his efforts, Soliday was named the 2013-2014 Rawlings-NAIA Division I National Coach of the Year. He has recruited and coached eight NAIA All-Americans, 11 All-GSAC honorees, and 18 NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The 2013-2014 season was the finest campaign ever by a Vanguard/SCC Men’s Basketball program. The Lions finished 32-6, breaking the school record for wins and earning the program’s third GSAC regular season title, its first in 25 years. Prior to his time at Vanguard, Soliday has served as an assistant at UC Irvine and Concordia. 


Richard Morgan - Bluefield


Richard Morgan is entering his 14th season as head coach for the Bluefield Rams. In Morgan’s first season at the helm, the Rams went 17-16 and 11-5 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play to grab a share of the regular season title. In each of the first three seasons, Morgan led the Rams to postseason play, both in the AAC and the NCCAA Mid-Atlantic region. Morgan is a two-time NCCAA Mid-Atlantic region Coach of the Year recipient. Morgan has compiled a 196-199 record as Head Coach for the Rams. Prior to Bluefield, Morgan was an assistant coach at Appalachian State and an Associate HC at Hampton University. 


Rocky Lamar - (Formerly) Midamerica Nazarene


Rocky Lamar has been leading the Pioneers since 1986 with over 800 career wins. The Midamerica Nazarene graduate was elected into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2014. Coach Lamar has coached 28 NAIA All-America honorees. He has also been named HAAC Coach of the Year seven times (‘90, ‘92, ‘96, ‘00, ‘07, ‘12, and ‘16). He was named NAIA & KBCA Coach of the Year for the 06-07 season, and KBCA Coach of the Year for the 08-09 season. The Pioneers have won 13 conference championships, and have been to the NAIA national tournament 19 times. They finished 2nd in the NCCAA National Tournament in 1996-97 & 1997-98. MNU basketball has reached the NAIA final four in 2001 (runner-up), 2006, 2007 (National Champs), 2008, 2009, 2014, and 2016. Rocky Lamar was the active wins leader amongst active NAIA Head Coaches until he recently retired. 


Ryan Cordova - Northern New Mexico


Ryan Cordova enters his 13th year as the Head Coach for the NNMC Eagles.  Cordova was named the 2015 Association of Independent Institutions’ Coach of the Year. Cordova began his coaching career while at Fort Lewis College, serving as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach from 1995-1998. When Head Coach, Keith Durham, was re-assigned to the Men’s Basketball team, he took Cordova, his top assistant, with him. Cordova served as Assistant Basketball coach for the Fort Lewis College Men’s team from 1998-2000.


Ryan Cottingham - Spring Arbor


Ryan Cottingham enters his 23rd season at Spring Arbor. The former Alma assistant coach, has compiled a 398-351 (.531) record ranking most wins in Cougar history. The 2018-2019 season proved to be Cottingham and Spring Harbor’s most decorated season winning 30 games with a .811 winning percentage and a NAIA D2 National Championship. Cottingham played for the Cougars in the 90s and was an honorable mention all-american in ‘93.


Ryan Marks  - St. Francis


Ryan Marks has compiled a 21-year career record of 339-290 as a head coach in college basketball. Led the Saints to a 15-15 overall record and a third-place finish in the CCAC South Division with a 12-7 mark in his debut at USF in 2013-14. Received CollegeInsider.com’s 2015 Jack Bennett Award, which is presented annually to a non-NCAA Division I head coach who achieves success on the basketball court, while displaying great moral integrity off the court. Former head coach for four years for NCAA D1 University of Texas-Pan American. Earned his 300th win of his coaching career with a win over Governors State in the 2019 CCAC Tournament Championship Game. 


Ryan Montgomery - Valley City


Ryan Montgomery recently finished his sixth year as head coach of the Valley City State University Men’s Basketball program. The past two seasons, the Vikings won 18+ games and back-to-back NSAA Tournament semifinals. ​​Montgomery previously served as assistant coach at Bemidji State University (BSU) in Bemidji, Minn., since 2010; from 2008–10 he served as a graduate assistant at BSU. 




Ryan Moody - Benedictine (KS)


In Ryan Moody’s ten seasons at Benedictine, his overall record is 199-112 averaging nearly 20 wins per season. In Moody’s tenure, the Ravens have won the Heart of the American Athletic Conference two times and have appeared 5x in the NAIA D1 National Tournament (‘14,’15, ‘17,’19,’21). In the 2018-2019 season, the Ravens completed their first Hear of America Athletic Conference regular season going 24-0. In four different seasons, Moody and the Ravens have finished in the top 25 NAIA Coaches Poll. Prior to Benedictine, Moody spent the previous five seasons at the University of North Dakota, the first four as Head Assistant Coach and the 2010-11 year as Associate Head Coach.


Ryan Wall - Texarkana


Ryan Wall enters his fourth season at the helm of the Eagles.  In his first year as Head Coach of the Eagles Coach Wall led TAMUT to the Red River Athletic Conference championship game. The Eagles reached the NAIA D1 National Tournament in the 2020-2021 season finishing 11-4. Before Texas A&M - Texarkana, Wall completed 5 seasons as the head coach at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio. Wall was a stand-out point guard for both the University of New Mexico and TCU. 


Scott Cooper - Indiana South Bend


Scott Cooper enters his 10th season as head coach of the IU South Bend Men’s basketball program. In 2020-2021, IUSB had to shut down due to COVID-19 for two and a half months yet still punched their ticket to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament by winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament earning the Titans their first national tournament win. The Titans have clinched a NAIA Tournament Berth for the past three consecutive years. During the 2019-2020 season, Cooper became the first men’s basketball coach in program history to record 100 career victories. Cooper has led the Titans to a 57-16 (.767) record the past three seasons. Cooper served as an assistant coach at Ohio Wesleyan prior to his career at IUSB. 


Scott Moe - Middle Georgia State


Scott Moe is entering his 10th season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach of Middle Georgia State University heading into the 2022-23 season. Moe has compiled a 116-104 record in nine seasons with the Knights. Moe’s overall heading coaching record is 352-263 (.572). Moe served as the Head Men’s Basketball coach of Middle Georgia College for the 11 years prior to his 8 seasons as the head coach at MGSU. Moe began his head coaching career in 2000-01 at MGC as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.


Scott Sanderson - Faulkner


Scott Sanderson enters his eight season at Faulkner with a 148-71 (.675) record. During his tutelage, the Eagles have reached the NAIA national tournament twice. Scott Sanderson was named Southern States Atlantic Conference (SSAC) Coach of the Year in 2020. Sanderson is the former head coach at the University of Mobile and Lipscomb University. Sanderson has NCAA D1 head coaching experience at Lipscomb University. Hired at Lipscomb in 1999, Sanderson spearheaded the Bison's move from the NAIA to NCAA Division I. In his 14 seasons at Lipscomb, Sanderson guided the Bison to a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference championships and the program's first postseason appearance, coming in the 2006 National Invitational Tournament. His first Lipscomb team, still playing in the NAIA, was No. 1 in the country for most of the 1999-2000 season, and Sanderson received national coach of the year honors from the Basketball Times that year. Sanderson has nearly 500 career wins with 454. 


Sean Dooley - Baker


Sean Dooley is entering his 11th season at Baker University as Men’s Head Basketball Coach. In his first season as the head coach of the Wildcats, Sean Dooley led the WIldcats to a winning record of 15-14 and finished sixth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference standings. During the 2017-18 campaign, the Wildcats started out the season 7-0, marking their best start to a season since 2006-07 when they started out 5-0. BU entered as the No. 5 seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament, and garnered three Heart Conference Honorable Mention players including Clae Martin, Tyree Peter, and Stephen Edwards. Prior to BU, Dooley came to Baker after serving as NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Bob Burchard's lead assistant for the past five seasons at Columbia College. 


Sean Hanrahan - Warner


Sean Hanrahan has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience. This past season, the Royals finished 18-12 and earned a NAIA D1 National Tournament berth. In the past five seasons, Hanrahan has guided the Royals to a 111-48 (.698) record. The Royals were the 2019 Sun Conference Regular Season Champions. In Hanrahan’s 13 years at Warner, his teams have averaged over 20 wins per season. Hanrahan has the all-time High Winning Percentage (.625) and Total wins at Warner (282). Hanrahan has worked with over 30 NBA's players as college athletes preparing for the draft like Chris Paul & Kevin Durant and additionally, was a 2017 Men’s Court Coach for Team USA.

Coach Huse is the winningest coach in MSU-Northern history.  He has an overall record of 380-215, is ranked 25th in wins among active NAIA DI men’s basketball coaches in only 17 seasons (the least number of seasons in that group), and 9th among that group in active winning percentage (65%).  He has led the Lights to five NAIA National Tournaments and five Frontier Conference titles (league or tournament).  The Lights have earned eleven 20-win seasons and have averaged over 20-wins per season from 2002 to 2020 (2021 a shortened season - Covid). In 2020, Coach Huse was tabbed one of the 50 most impactful men’s basketball coaches in NCAA DII and NAIA.  He was selected by a panel of more than 20 media members looking at coaches’ records, number of high-level players, tournament achievements, awards and other factors.


Stacy Hollowell  - Loyola New Orleans


Stacy Hollowell is entering his ninth season at the helm of Loyola's men's basketball program in 2022-23. In 2021, he moved into second on Loyola's all-time wins list, earning career victory No. 128 against Talladega on Mar. 13, 2021. After eight seasons, Hollowell's Wolf Pack teams have won 166 total games. This past season, the Wolf Pack finished 37-1 (.974) with a Southern States Athletic Conference regular season & tournament championship. The Wolf Pack would go on to win their program's first NAIA D1 National Championship. Stach Hollowell is currently second in winning percentage in school history (.680). The Wolf Pack finished the 2021-2022 season winning 21 straight. 


Stan Holt - Presentation


Stan Holt joined Presentation last year after stints with the Oklahoma City University Stars and Langston University Lions. With a career record of 127-68 and three national-tournament appearances over the past seven seasons, Holt is poised to lead the Saints in a new direction. While at Langston, the Lions found consistent success with four consecutive 20-win seasons and a 2017 NAIA D1 Tournament berth. In 2016, Langston won the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament title with a 25-7 record. Holt has worked with NBA players like Demar Derozan, Nicola Vucevic, and Taj Gibson. 


Steve Keller - Providence


Steve Keller became the head coach of the University of Providence men’s basketball program in March 2018, after eleven years coaching for conference rival University of Montana Western. In his second season, he led the Argos to a 24-8 record and a berth in the NAIA National Championships in Kansas City, Mo. Unfortunately the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also led the Argos to the highest ranking in program history at 8th. This past season, Keller led the Argos to their first outright conference championship since 1983, as well as winning the program's first ever Frontier Conference Tournament. They qualified for the NAIA National Tournament, where they made it to the Round of 32. The team finished the season ranked #10. For his efforts, Keller was named the Frontier Conference Coach of the Year. 


Steve Knight - William Carey 


This past season, Steve Knight completed his 40th season with the William Carey Crusaders. He is the State of Mississippi's all-time winningest collegiate coach with 746 career wins and is currently ranked 2nd nationally among NAIA Men's Basketball winningest active coaches. His overall coaching record currently stands at 746-521, a  .588 winning percentage. Knight is the only inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame as both a player and coach. His Crusader teams have compiled twenty-one 20+ win seasons, captured six GCAC Championships (1984, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1992, 1997), six District 30 Championships(1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989), three Southern States Athletic Conference Western Division Regular Season Titles (2011, 2013, 2014), four Southern States Athletic Conference Regular Season Titles (2016, 2017, 2018 2019), two SSAC Tournament Championships (2014, 2018) and have competed in thirteen NAIA National Tournaments (1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.) The 2019 team was the first William Carey team to participate in the NAIA Final Four.




Steve Shepard - College of the Ozarks


Steve Shepard heads into his 21st season as the Ozarks head coach. During his 20-year tenure, Shepherd has accumulated a National title, three Fab Four appearances, a conference title, and three conference tournament titles for the College. The Bobcats have enjoyed fifteen 20-win seasons, including a record of 20-13 in 2019-20. Shepherd's 32-year career as a head coach has seen him amass a 403-226 record at the collegiate level and a 259-75 record at the high school level, compiling an overall record of 662-301. Shepard earned his 400th win this past season. Most recent on Shepherd’s list of coaching honors is his 2020 induction into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.  


Taylor Langley - Graceland


Head coach Taylor Langley enters his first season at Graceland after spending the last six seasons as head coach at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Coach Langley has become the winningest coach in men's basketball program history in total wins and winning percentage. He has led the Wolverines to four consecutive postseason berths, which is the longest streak in school history. During his tenure, the men's basketball program also earned the only two Top 25 national rankings in school history.  The Wolverines have been one of the top defensive teams in the country since Coach Langley's arrival. They have finished ranked in the Top 25 for points allowed per game in NAIA five out of six seasons.

In 2018, Coach Langley became the first coach in school history to win a WHAC Tournament Championship, and earn a bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The Wolverines defeated the overall #1 ranked team in NAIA D2, Cornerstone University, on the road in the conference semifinals. Subsequently, Coach Langley was named UM-Dearborn Coach of the Year. 


Thomas Billups - Tougaloo


The 2018-2019 season proved to be the turning point for Coach Billups and the Tougaloo Bulldogs. The Bulldogs won a GCAC championship, reached the NAIA National Tournament, and won 28 games. Billups ended up winning GCAC coach of the year. Since then, the Bulldogs have won 20+ games (excluding the 2020-2021 COVID-19 season).



Tony Bates - Governors State


Tony Bates is heading into his ninth season as head men’s basketball coach at Governors State University, being named to the post on July 1, 2014. Building a program from scratch, Bates has created an exciting brand of basketball in the Chicago Southland that thrives on an up-tempo offense and pressure defense. He is the longest tenured head coach at GSU and serves as Director of Athletics. In eight seasons at GSU, Bates has recorded seven wins over Top 25 teams and compiled a 72-68 (.514) record in CCAC play. Bates was named 2018 CCAC Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Jaguars to the CCAC regular season and tournament titles. His 2017-18 squad finished 25-9, advancing to the NAIA Tournament and finishing ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Prior to GSU, Bates was the Associate HC at St. Xavier University. 

Tony Romero- Central Christian

Tony Romero is entering his 12th season as the head coach for Central Christian College.  Romero served as an assistant for the Tiger basketball program for the five seasons prior (2004-2009).  Romero and his staff guided the Tiger’s to 200 wins in the last eleven seasons, including wins over nationally ranked teams and sightings in the NAIA national rankings off and on throughout those years.  Three years ago, the tigers transitioned to NAIA division 1 after spending the last 17 years as a NAIA division 2 institution.   In their first year competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference, the Tiger men ended the season with a 17-16 record, 3 wins versus top 20 opponents, its ninth straight postseason appearance, qualifying for the NCCAA National Tournament, finishing 3rd out of the 8 team tournament. This is the most wins for Central Men’s Basketball as a four-year institution over any ten year span.


Troy Brown - Saint Mary

Coach Brown took over as interim head coach in November 2014.  He was given full reigns of the Spire program in March 2015 following a 22-9 campaign and a 2nd place finish (13-5) in the KCAC.  Prior, Brown served as the head assistant coach for the Spires from 2011-2014.  Since joining the program Coach Brown has been instrumental in recruiting and developing 14 KCAC All-Conference players and 4 NAIA All-Americans, which included 2 KCAC Player of the Years, 2 KCAC Newcomer of Years, 3 KCAC All Defensive players and 3 KCAC All Freshman players.  In his 1st year as assistant he helped guide the Spires to the best record in school history, 25-6. In his 7 years in the program Coach Brown has helped lead the team to 20+ win seasons 4 times with 17 wins coming in the other three seasons. As head coach of Saint Mary, Brown has already surpassed 110 wins. 

Wayne Wagner - Viterbo

Wayne Wagner enters his 24th season as head coach of the V-Hawks, making him the longest-tenured coach in V-Hawk men's basketball history. In 23 seasons as coach, he has racked up 332 wins and guided the V-Hawks to the Midwest Collegiate Conference championship in 2010. Under Wagner, the 2002 and 2006 Midwest Classic (Collegiate) Conference Coach of the Year, the V-Hawks have finished several seasons in the top ten in the NAIA in points allowed. In his time at Viterbo, Wagner has continued a proud V-Hawk tradition: competing against the best college teams in the Midwest. This past season, the V-Hawks reached the NSAA Men’s Postseason Tournament Championship game. 

Wiley Brown - Indiana Southeast


Wiley Brown enters his 15th season as head coach for the men's basketball program at Indiana University Southeast. During his time at the helm of the program, Brown has led the Grenadiers to seven consecutive appearances in the NAIA National Tournament from 2007-08 to 2013-14. Brown has also led his teams to seven consecutive KIAC Conference Championships from 2007-08 to 2013-14. The Grenadiers also won six-straight KIAC Tournament titles from 2007-08 to 2012-13. Brown was named the 2010, 2012 and 2014 KIAC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. Brown led the Grenadiers to their most successful season ever in 2013. The Grenadiers achieved their highest NAIA national ranking (#3) in the history of IU Southeast Athletics and advanced to the NAIA Fab Four for the first time. In 2011, the Grenadiers won both the regular season and conference tournament championships before losing to Iowa Wesleyan in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament.  Brown led the Grenadiers to the Elite Eight in 2010.


Will Shouse - Asbury

Will Shouse finished his 14th season as head coach of the Asbury University men's basketball program. After returning to his alma mater in June of 2008 to become the head coach, the 2002 alum has spent a total of 21 seasons on the court for the Eagles, four as a player and another four as an assistant from 2002-2006. Shouse became the winningest men's basketball coach in Asbury history on December 4, 2021, guiding the Eagles to a 78-71 victory over Boyce College to earn his 223rd win at the helm of the AU program. The 2021 team displayed a resilient spirit throughout the year recording a 15-6 record in an abbreviated season due to Covid-19. The 2020 campaign proved to be a rebuilding year, replacing several veterans including First-Team All-American Trenton Thompson. The Eagles posted a 10-18 record, dropping seven games by six points or less, and closed out the season with a two-game winning streak. The Eagles bounced back this year above .500.
